Timing determines most of the arrangement
A cleaner attending after the last child has gone home is in a different situation from one working while a late session runs, and services set their contractor rules accordingly. The first question in any early learning engagement is therefore when the work occurs, and the second is whether that can change. Many arrangements begin as after-hours services and drift into daytime attendance through periodic work, a holiday programme or an added mid-day presence, and each of those shifts may move the engagement into a different category from the service's perspective.
Because of that, it is worth agreeing at the outset that any change to attendance timing is discussed rather than simply scheduled. A carpet crew arriving at two in the afternoon during a vacation care programme is a different proposition from the same crew arriving at seven in the evening, and a service would far rather be consulted than informed. That single agreement prevents most of the awkward conversations that arise in this sector.
